North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will take on the role of starting quarterback for their season opener against Indiana University. This game, scheduled for September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, will be the first regular season match for the No. 6 ranked Hoosiers.

Jackson, who has a history with IU, played there for two years before transferring. The Greenwood, Indiana native had a notable high school career at Center Grove High School and also spent time at the University of Central Florida, where he recorded a total of 2,151 passing yards, achieved 10 touchdowns, and had 8 interceptions during his tenure.

Adding to the personal significance of this matchup, Jackson's older brother, Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former basketball player for Indiana University, has expressed his intention to attend the game to support him. This event marks IU's first game since they celebrated their national championship victory in January.
