A temporary restraining order from a Dallas court has enabled 18 college football players, including Ahmaad Moses, to return for a fifth year of eligibility in the 2026 season. This ruling, issued just before the college football season begins, follows the Wisne v. NCAA decision from July 31, which initially allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility.
The NCAA's appeal of that ruling has been effectively halted by this new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, a standout free safety for SMU, has played 54 games and made 19 starts during his time with the Mustangs. He was a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025 and played a crucial role in the team's achievements, including a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Last season, he led SMU with 104 tackles and five interceptions.
Moses, who recently underwent spinal fusion surgery due to a herniated disk, has been participating in fall camp and is expected to play in the Mustangs' season opener against Florida State on September 7. The full list of players granted the TRO includes notable names like Jordan Hudson from SMU and D’Mon Brinson from UConn, but the NCAA's next steps regarding the appeal remain unclear.
