The Houston Texans have completed their 53-man roster, which now features undrafted rookie defensive end Sabastian Harsh. Initially considered a long shot to make the team, Harsh's dedication and strong performances during the preseason earned him a place.
In a recent interview on Texans radio, Harsh shared his feelings of anxiety leading up to the roster announcement. He recounted, "I was waiting for a phone call from my mom and dad. Then I saw the roster released, and I was like, Oh my gosh. Like, that is pretty cool, man."
After missing the first preseason game due to injury, Harsh faced increased pressure to perform well in the following games. His standout display against the Carolina Panthers, where he achieved three tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, and a pass breakup, greatly improved his chances of securing a roster spot.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans noted Harsh's contributions in both pass rushing and run defense as key factors in his selection. Despite this success, Harsh remains committed to his development, stating, "I still have not accomplished it yet, so there is much more work ahead."
As the regular season nears, he will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, with many looking forward to his impact on the Texans' defense in the upcoming season.
