LITEON Technology, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, is set to establish a significant AI power and infrastructure manufacturing facility in McKinney, representing a total investment of nearly $919 million. This project is projected to generate more than 600 jobs over its operational lifetime.
The initial phase of the facility will involve a capital investment of $307 million and is expected to create around 500 jobs. Covering over 650,000 square feet, the site will serve as LITEON's North American headquarters, focusing on the design and production of power systems essential for AI data centers.
The state has supported this initiative with a $3.5 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund and a $100,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus.
Founded in 1975, LITEON has a long history in the electronics sector, initially gaining recognition for its innovations in LED technology. The company's recent shift towards AI-related products has led to significant growth, with projections indicating that AI-related revenue will reach 40 percent of total income this year.
The new facility will be strategically located in North Texas, which has the highest number of planned data centers in the state, allowing for efficient production of necessary power systems nearby. This investment marks one of the largest corporate commitments in McKinney's history, enhancing the local economy's advanced manufacturing sector.
McKinney is about 18 miles north of Richardson.
