The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed Von Miller to a one-year contract, as the team seeks to strengthen its defense. This move follows the offseason interest Miller showed in joining the Cowboys, who are in the process of revamping their defensive lineup with around six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence in Miller's skills, highlighting his sharp football intellect and quick speed. Although Miller may not participate in every play, Schottenheimer believes his presence will significantly improve the team's defensive capabilities. "He understands the game; the football intellect is top tier," Schottenheimer stated, noting Miller's expertise in angles and various moves.
In the 2025 season, Miller played 17 games for the Washington Commanders, starting three and logging 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. In his new role with the Cowboys, he is expected to participate during crucial moments, such as third downs, while other players manage earlier downs.
Miller, who was drafted second overall in 2011 from Texas A&M, has had a distinguished career, including two Super Bowl titles and the record for the most sacks among active players at 138.5. He is close to breaking into the top 10 all-time with just 3.5 more sacks this season.
