The Houston Texans are facing uncertainty regarding wide receiver Tank Dell as the season opener approaches. Reports indicate that Dell is not anticipated to be ready for the team's first game. He began individual drills during the second week of training camp but has since had limited involvement, with recent practices not open to the media further raising concerns about his availability.

While two league sources have stated that Dell has not suffered any setbacks, he has not been able to practice regularly. It seems he may not participate in the Texans' last preseason game, and with only three weeks left until the opener on September 13, his status remains unclear.

This situation could lead to the Texans opting to carry seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster as they wait for Dell's full recovery.

Additionally, the team is managing the impact of Jayden Higgins' ACL injury, affecting the No. 2 wide receiver position alongside Nico Collins. Candidates like Xavier Hutchinson, who showed promise last season, and Jaylin Noel, recognized for his playmaking skills, are now vying for that spot.

While there is optimism for Dell's return to form, it is uncertain when he will be able to contribute fully to the team.
