The Houston Texans have signed running back Deuce Vaughn, previously with the Denver Broncos, as announced by the team on Monday. Vaughn, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds, was on the Broncos' practice squad for the entire 2025 season after joining in September of the prior year.
He re-signed with Denver on a reserve/future contract in January but was released in May. Vaughn also played for the UFL's Orlando Storm before making his return to the NFL with the Texans.
In a corresponding move, the Texans waived wide receiver Juwann Winfree, who also played for the Broncos. The team conducted workouts with running back Blake Watson and former Denver receiver Josh Reynolds, according to the NFL's transaction wire.
Four other former Broncos practice squad players remain free agents since their contracts expired in February, including quarterback Ben DiNucci, tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Patrick Murtagh, and defensive back Delarrin Turner-Yell. Additionally, defensive lineman Jonathan Harris has recently had a workout with the Minnesota Vikings. Further information regarding Vaughn's role with the Texans or Winfree's future plans has not been disclosed.
