Walbert Urena anchored the Los Angeles Angels’ victory with a six-inning, scoreless outing that set the tone for a complete team effort against the Texas Rangers. Urena allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five batters, earning the win and improving his record to 8-8.
He was supported by three relievers who combined to preserve the shutout, allowing no earned runs over the final three innings.
Jose Fermin worked the seventh inning, retiring the side with one hit and one strikeout. Tayler Saucedo followed in the eighth, allowing two hits but escaping with no damage. Sammy Peralta closed the game in the ninth, recording two strikeouts without allowing a hit or a walk. The Angels’ pitching staff held the Rangers to just nine total hits across nine innings.
Offensive Explosion in the Fifth
The Angels’ offense broke open a tight game with a five-run fifth inning. After Guzman reached on an infield single to score Trout, making it 3-0, Lowe delivered a two-hit rally with a double that brought in Grissom and Schanuel. Guzman then scored on a fielder’s choice by Siri, extending the lead to 6-0.
Siri added an RBI single in the seventh to make it 7-0, sealing the outcome.
Earlier in the second inning, the Angels had taken a 2-0 lead on singles by Guzman and Trout. Guzman and Trout each recorded three hits, leading the Angels’ attack. The Rangers’ offense was unable to generate any runs, failing to score despite getting runners into scoring position multiple times.
